How To Make Marijuana Coffee

Ready to take your wake and bake game to a whole new level? Oh, we know you are! Knowing how to make marijuana coffee isn’t so much of a science as it is an art. We all like our coffee a certain way. Black, with cream, with sugar or sweetener, hot, iced, in the morning, or even decaffeinated. Since it isn’t as easy as throwing your favorite strain of ground flower into the brew, we are going to break down how to make marijuana coffee and elevate your perfect cup of Joe.

Consuming Cannabis Drinks

It’s not very likely that the popularity of marijuana drinks will trump baked goods or gummy edibles. They are more like an alternative option for microdosing and the perfect boost to your buzz. You can find all sorts of cannabis drinks popping up in dispensaries. They taste delicious, are perfectly dosed, and super easy to consume.

Drinking cannabis compared to eating edibles

We know that eating edibles take much longer to feel the effect compared to smoking weed. Since the THC in edibles needs to be digested before it travels the receptors in your brain. It can be a long 20 to 30 minutes compared to the quick 2 to 3 minutes when smoking to notice the effects.

Think about how your body handles some hot spicy thai compared to downing a beer or couple of shots. That liquid goes through your body much quicker and the next thing you know you’re breaking the seal and running to the bathroom to urinate before that spicy thai kicks in. Liquids skip the digestive journey and are immediately absorbed into your bloodstream. So you can expect the effects to kick in within 5 to 10 minutes.

Using Coconut Oil vs. MCT Oil - Vegan-Friendly Option

First, what is MCT oil? MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides extracted from coconut oil. MCT’s are fats with shorter chains than long-chain triglycerides (LCTs), making them easier to digest and quickly absorbed for immediate energy or conversion into ketones. Unlike LCTs, which are common in the diet and stored as fat, MCTs are efficiently metabolized by the liver, supporting energy levels and potentially aiding in weight management.

While coconut oil and MCT oil are both healthy fats, they offer different benefits. Coconut oil provides things like reduced inflammation, boosted metabolism, along with antibacterial and antifungal properties (awesome skin care!). While your MCT oil is going to boost your energy, increase productivity, and help you focus.

Dosing Marijuana Coffee

Just a heads up, there are 48 teaspoons in one cup.

To avoid taking in too much CBD or THC at once, it's best to use a small amount of cannabis in the recipe, also known as microdosing.

For instance, if you followed the recipe and used 0.5 grams of cannabis with an average of 20% THC, you would end up with 25mg of THC per cup of milk.

So, 0.5 grams of 20% THC cannabis in 4 cups of milk equals 100mg.

Since this recipe serves 4, when divided by 4 cups of milk, you get 25mg per 1 cup serving.

Keep in mind, these numbers will differ depending on the potency of your starting flower; 20% is just an average used for illustration.
